WHAT IS A MANDALA? AND HOW TO USE IT.

The mandala comes from Sanskrit, meaning"circle," and symbolizes never-ending life. The mandalas can be created by individuals to tell their journeys through life. In some cases, they will reveal the individual's path in life.

A Mandala represents wholeness, a cosmic diagram reminding us of our relation to infinity, extending beyond and within our bodies and minds.

Mandalas have been used by many cultures and have served mankind for centuries.

HOW TO USE A MANDALA

The mandala's design is visually appealing to absorb the mind so that chattering thoughts cease, and a more philosophic or spiritual essence envelopes the observer, leading to higher consciousness or awareness.

A mandala can be seen as hypnotic, letting the creative hemisphere of our mind run a little more freely while our analytical mind takes a little nap.

Mandala is a form of meditation to gain knowledge, primarily the kind that resides within each of us.

Before meditating, we must first set an intention. Usually, we select a mandala that appeals to us. Knowing the meaning of the mandala you've chosen or arranging your own definitions or intentions before focusing on it is good.

Once we have set our intention, we focus on the mandala. Let your eyes take the beauty of the designs, allowing your mind to wander as it will. If your mind begins to chatter, simply bring your attention back to the beauty of the mandala. Get inside the mandala, merely fall into it, swim in it, and let it absorb all of your attention.

You will feel lighter as you fall into the mandala, and intuitive thoughts may arise. Relax and float with the thoughts and feelings that come to you. Focus on the mandala if you feel lost or uncomfortable or get the chatter.

Each observer has different experiences. However, the overall consensus is that meditating with the mandala leaves the observer relaxed, and he/she comes away with a resolution of clarity concerning the intention that was set before the meditation.

Another form of mandala meditation is to make or color your own mandala. Painting, coloring, or drawing mandalas allows our creative brain to come out and play, leading to an altered state where we can perform constructive healing and gain incredible insight into ourselves and our lives.
